Thanks to the team who cared for my mum Carol Baird during her recent trip from Wiltshire with a leg injury. The team took great care of mum and we both very much appreciate the care, professionalism and compassion from everyone involved in the treatment.

I found it easy to arrange an appointment. I was seen by Dr King and found him to be extremely supportive, he gave clear and valuable advice and helped me through a difficult time. The advice he gave will continue to be applied for the future, thank you.

I feel that if I said on the telephone that my problem was an emergency I would have got an appointment quickly. But as I did not, I ended up sitting and waiting for over an hour for an appointment during your open session. This does not seem acceptable to me when I work full time. Next time I ring, I will be saying my problem is an emergency to avoid wasting my time sitting in the open surgery.

I like the online appointment and medication request service. I like the services that are available now within the surgery eg. physio, scans etc. It makes things much easier regarding travel and the waiting times are less that when done in the hospital setting. The reception staff are very helpful and polite. I tend to try to see Dr Mooney when I require an appointment as I feel confident that she will answer honestly, listen, discuss and advise me accordingly. I prefer to see the same doctor as knowledge of the person that the Dr is treating leads the patient to feel more reassured. I like the educational screen giving health advice. The environment is spacious, clean and tidy.

My constructive suggestion unfortunately comes from a negative experience. I developed a bladder infection on 15 Dec 2016 but as I was not dying but only in pain I was told I could not have an appointment but could attend a open sit and wait surgery at 0840 16 Dec. I did that but did not know the doors opened at 0800 so I had about 30 others in front of me. Around 70 minutes later suffering a great deal of discomfort I saw the doctor with my urine sample which had blood in it. I was prescribed antibiotics. Christmas day the bladder infection came back. My only option it seemed was to ring 111 who were no use at all. After asking questions off a card and determined I was not dying I was told I would get a call back within 6hrs . After several other calls this turned into within 24hrs. I was given no advice what so ever. I ended up wandering around Wakefield Boxing day looking for a walk in centre which in the end King St. centre treated me. But I was very annoyed to find out I could have been treated Christmas day at King St. preventing me again suffering hours of much discomfort. If I had known instead of finding out the hard way I would not have suffered the hours of pain I endured. Was there anything else I could have done? Maybe you could put out a leaflet or put it on the internet what to do and were to go when out of hours. It may prevent others suffering. I appreciate ultimately it is not your responsibility.
